Restart of Wednesday Night Discipleship Ministries: We are happy to announce that on Wednesday, September 9, from 6:30-7:30 pm, we plan to restart Wednesday night discipleship ministries. With much anticipation we look forward to being together mid-week to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. For Adults, our format would include 30 minutes of praying in smaller groups, and then 30 minutes of Bible study. All Teens, grades 9-12, would meet with Nic and Cher Emond in Room 4 North. For Children, the format would be similar to Sunday School, with K4-K5 in room 1 North, 1st-3rd Grade in room 3 North, and 4th-6th Grade in 2 North. We anticipate all children meeting together to “Sing” as we begin, and then break up in their individual classrooms and stay there for the remainder of the time. Covid-19 considerations for Sunday morning worship would also apply for Wednesday nights. If you have any questions about the restart of Wednesday Night Discipleship Ministries, or any other GHC ministries, please see one of the Elders.

Marriage: What Did You Expect? Conference
February 16, 2018 | 5:45 pm - 9:00 pm
Marriage: What Did You Expect? Our very own Live Stream On Demand marriage conference with Paul David Tripp, Friday, February 16 (5:45-9:30 pm), and Saturday, February 17 (9 am to Noon), right here at FBC Merton. Friday will have a fully catered meal, 2 teaching sessions with Paul David Tripp, and our own group discussion. Come back on Saturday to have 2 more teaching sessions with Paul David Tripp, our own group discussions, snacks, and then finish off our time with a catered lunch. All this for just $60 per couple. Please Register and Pay $60 Registration Fee by February 4 (see flyer for details). See Shelli S. or Elaine M. if you have any questions. Here is an excerpt of what you can expect from Tripp's teaching: "It won't take long for you to be disappointed in marriage. It won't take long for your dreams to be dashed. The reality is that you can't escape the brokenness of this world. You won't be able to avoid the sin of your spouse. The Bible teaches that we all bring something destructive into our relationships - sin. But as Paul David Tripp explains, we buy into the delusion that our biggest problem is outside of us. We blame our spouse. We blame our circumstances. We rarely take seriously the nature of our own sin. Unlike other marriage books that only diagnose horizontal problems, What Did You Expect? fights a much deeper war over the worship of our heart. It's only when we worship God as Creator, Sovereign and Savior that we will ever love as we should. What Did You Expect? challenges you to look into the mirror of God's Word and see yourself with clarity. Maybe it's you. Maybe you love yourself more than your spouse. Maybe you love your little kingdom more than God's big Kingdom. When you reach that level of honesty, you're at the edge of real good things for your marriage. Start working on a marriage of unity, understanding, and love." (www.paultripp.com)
